Mobility scooter provision

Mobility scooters can be helpful if you are struggling with your mobility and can help you to get out and about e.g. to go shopping, to get out in your garden and to go on days out. Using a mobility scooter from time to time can also be a helpful way to conserve your energy and manage fatigue levels. Mobility scooters are not generally available via the NHS. It is recommended that you try out a mobility scooter before you buy it to make sure you feel safe and happy driving it.

Buying a mobility scooter:

This is not a comprehensive list of mobility scooter providers in Herefordshire but may give you a place to start looking. There is a useful webpage on RIDC to have a look at before buying a mobility scooter covering topics such as travelling with mobility scooters and a checklist to review before purchasing your scooter: http://www.rica.org.uk/features-reviews/out-and-about/choosing-wheelchair/mobility-scooters.

The Hereford Lions club run a project whereby those with unwanted walkers, wheelchairs and mobility scooters donate them to the club to then be used by someone who is not able to purchase one. Please contact your Physiotherapist or Occupational therapist who will be able to discuss this with you and pass on the relevant contact details.

The Motability scheme can also offer you support with a mobility scooter. For more information please see the following website: https://www.motability.co.uk/c/ppc/scooters-and-powered-wheelchairs/.
